Truckload Carriers Association Recognizes Tommy Dodd, Wednesday, February 25, 2009 Alexandria, Virginia – The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has recognized truck driver Tommy Dodd as a Highway Angel for providing aid to a teenage accident victim despite freezing temperatures. The incident took place at approximately midnight on December 16, 2008. The weather was frigid, and there was a lot of ice on the ground. Dodd was driving his truck eastbound on I-44 near Tulsa, Oklahoma, when he saw a car strike a guardrail and roll over. He immediately stopped his rig and called 911. The Port of New York and New Jersey TWIC compliance date is fast approaching Wednesday, February 25, 2009 The Port of New York and New Jersey TWIC compliance date is fast approaching. Note, only drivers with an active SeaLink card and TWIC card registered with the Port Authority will be admitted into the terminals beginning March 23, 2009. If the TWIC card is not registered with the Port Authority, the driver's SeaLink card will be suspended and the driver will not have access to the terminals. DRBA First Agency to Boot Habitual Toll Violator Under New Law Thursday, January 29, 2009 The Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) became the first transportation agency in Delaware to immobilize a vehicle using a “Denver Boot” for habitual toll violators. On Tuesday at 3:40 p.m., the DRBA Police Department stopped a vehicle in the toll plaza of the Delaware Memorial Bridge that had violated the toll 132 times during the past year. ATRIi Releases Analysis of Operational Costs of Trucking Tuesday, December 16, 2008 The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) today released the findings of its analysis on the operational costs of trucking. NMFTA Increases SCAC Fees/Revises Application Friday, December 12, 2008 As of January 1, 2009, the fee for SCAC applications submitted through the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) website at https://secure.nmfta.org/ has increased $10.00 and will be $55.00. Fees for applications submitted by fax and mail have also increased $10.00 and will be $60.00 ($68.00 if payment is made by check in U.S. dollars payable through a Canadian bank). Applications submitted online are usually completed and a Certificate of SCAC Assignment issued via email within 24 hours on regular business days.
